Your Family Website


Your Family Website offers you a convenient way to keep family and friends connected with pictures and messages just a website address away from anywhere. You will begin setting up Your Family Website by selecting the "admin" link at the bottom left corner of your Welcome Page, using the login you chose and the temporary password given to you when you registered with Your Family Website..

This is the page your guests will see when they enter your website. From the Welcome Page they will be able to select options to view your photo albums, leave you a message, sign your guest book and leave their email address. You have the choice of what is displayed on this page. At any time, you may add, delete and edit information and photos you have placed on the Welcome Page. The right column displays pictures from your albums in a random, rotating mode.

Website Security Settings
This option allows you to change your site administration Login and Password.

The Family Website Password may be left blank if you want to allow anyone surfing the web to have access to your site. To protect your site, keep a Family Password active and give this to your friends and family when you tell them about your site. Only those who know the Family Password will be able to enter your site if you choose this option.

This option allows you to select what you want displayed on your Welcome Page.

Color Scheme
Choose from the pull-down menu your choice of color for your pages. You may return and change the color option at any time.

Main Title/Middle Photo
After typing a title and/or importing a graphic or photo of your choice (.jpg no larger than 200k), your selection will be displayed in the middle section at the top of your Welcome Page. You may want to experiment with various combinations of text, photos and graphics which can be deleted/edited at any time. Check out some of the websites at www.yourfamilywebsite.com which were all created using these same features.

Left/Right Side Main Photo
Import photos or graphics of your choice from your desktop, .jpg up to 200k. You may have to resize your photos before importing them into Your Family Website.

Welcome Page Options
This option allows you to choose which features you would like displayed on the left column, below the header, of your Welcome Page. A check in the box after the feature will place it on the page. Message Board will show several of the most recent messages; Favorite Websites will list several site you entered; Events will display several upcoming events; and New Albums will list several of the most recent photo albums you created. ALL Messages, Albums, Favorite Websites and Events can be viewed by your guests by choosing that option from the main menu, even if you choose not to have them displayed on the left column.

Once you enter or edit any options in Website Settings, be sure to click "Submit" if you want it changed, or "Cancel" if you decide not to make the change. Below the Submit and Cancel buttons, you may preview the changes you made.

Your Family Website Highlights will be text and/or photos that will appear in the center column of your Welcome Page. Enter the Title for your Highlights and choose size, color, etc. Add text in Highlight Details and choose a Photo (optional) from your desktop. The required Display Order will put your highlights in ascending order on the center of the page. A check in the box will add this highlight to your Welcome Page. Add or Cancel your Highlight when completed and go back at any time to edit or delete any Highlight.

This feature lets you share photos with family and friends visiting Your Family Website. Make a New Album Give each album a title. If you want them displayed in a certain order, enter a Sort Order number for each album. When your guests select Photo Albums from the Welcome Page menu they will see the albums listed in ascending order.
You may want to use Sort Order increments of 10 or 100 to allow future albums to be inserted between existing albums (10, 20..;or 100, 200..). If you want your albums listed with the most recent first give all albums the same sort order number and put in the date each was created. The system will then show them sorted in descending order with most recent first.
For example: You add an album of your most recent pictures and sort order/number it 10. Next month you create an album and number it 20. Later you find pictures from a trip that took place between photos in album 10 and album 20, so you number it 15. Had you numbered them 1 and 2, all albums would have to be re-numbered if you wanted to keep them in chronological order.
Add Photos After you have created a title for one or more album, select the album (from the pull down menu) into which you would like to insert pictures. Browse your desktop and add these photos. Be sure photos are .jpg files no more than 200k before selecting them. The system will accept only this ease of loading on most computers. After selecting up to 10 photos at a time to add to your album, you may have Your Family Website send a message to everyone on your site's email list, inviting them to view your new photos. If you do not want this message sent out, uncheck the box before adding these photos to your album. When you wish to send out an email to only a select number of those on your website list, keep a check in the box and on the next page you may remove those you do not want to receive this email by deleting the address(es) in the "To:" box of the letter.
Edit Photos Once albums are created you may select an album and: add photos, remove photos, edit photo features (add captions, enter sort order, and check/uncheck "Display on Welcome Page"), edit album (title, sort order, year, month), or remove album. If you check "Display on Welcome Page" the photos will appear in random order on a rotating basis on the right side of your Welcome Page. (top)

Your Family Website email is created by your guests who add their email addresses to your list. You may also add addresses to this list.

Send an Email
The system inserts the email addresses from your website.

Add an Email
Email addresses you insert will be added to the list of those left by visitors to your site.

Edit an Email
Edit or delete any names or email addresses as needed.

Visitors to your site have the option of leaving a message. You may delete any message left by a guest at any time.

View the names, email addresses and dates of visit of those who signed your Guest Book. You may delete and guest's name/address.

Add a website Title and Link for sites you would like to share with your visitors. If the sites you add are not commercial sites, it would be best to check with the owner of the site before adding it to Your Family Website Favorite Websites.

Share special upcoming events with your visitors. You enter the Title, Date, Details, and check if it repeats annually (same exact day). Once the date of an event has passed system deletes event from your website unless it is an annual event.

If you choose to have Events displayed on the Welcome Page, only the Title and Date are displayed. Visitors can find out more information about each Event by selecting "Events" from the main menu.
